Questions & Answers
Q. If I'm not Catholic or Presbyterian, may I still qualify to live at Catholic Presbyterian Apartments? A. Absolutely -we make no distinction among our residents. There are people of many different religious affiliations living here at the Apartments. All are welcome and all enjoy the same quality of living. Q. How safe is it to live at Catholic-Presbyterian Apartments? A. Quite simply, it is safer than any other comparable facility in Baton Rouge. The building itself is staffed and patrolled 24 hours a day and secured at night. All visitors are required to register at the Reception/Security Desk and after hours must be identified by a resident before being admitted into the building. In addition, there are off-duty uniformed police patrols in addition to the regularly scheduled city police patrols for the area. Also, recent street lighting improvements make ours one of the most well lighted neighborhoods in Baton Rouge. Q. How does the cost of living at Catholic-Presbyterian Apartments compare with other facilities in Baton Rouge? A. To be honest, it is difficult to make easy comparisons since there are no comparable facilities in Baton Rouge in terms of your cost for value received. However, other complexes currently charge from a minimum of about one-half our rates to as much as six times as much, or even more. These days you usually get what you pay for; with the less expensive facilities you give up many services and may find a wide variety of personalities, ages and family types sharing your complex. The more expensive facilities are usually newer and therefore must charge more for the same services and they often add expensive nursing services which our residents do not require. In any case, Catholic-Presbyterian Apartments represents your best value; there are no other facilities in Baton Rouge -at any price - which provide our unique blend of activities and services. Plus, our rates include all utilities. Q. I no longer drive a car. Will still be able to get around without depending on my children? A. Approximately 90% of our residents no longer drive a car. However, with most needs provided within the building or available within walking distance, the dependence on a car is virtually eliminated. In addition, residents have access to the city transit system, free downtown trolley and volunteer transportation, as well as special transportation to churches and grocery & department stores. Q. All too often, senior citizens are shut away and lose control of those things which affect their quality of life. As a resident, will I have a voice in how the Apartments operate or what occurs around my neighborhood? A. The Resident Council provides a vehicle by which all relevant tenant concerns are brought to the attention of the management. Periodically, meetings of all residents are held to provide a forum for information and discussion. In addition, the Executive Director is a voting member of the Downtown Residents Council, a committee of the Downtown Development District Commission. This ensures that the concerns of our residents are considered whenever decisions about downtown Baton Rouge are made. Catholic-Presbyterian Apartments [HOME] [SERVICES] [Q.A.] [CONTACT US]
